YLT Day:? Head Count

I made it by the skin on my teeth.

YLT Day 10: Need to stop falling asleep on the couch

For the last couple of days Aaron and I have been so exhausted that we keep falling asleep on the couch afraid to move b/c if we do the dog wakes up and starts crying.

YLT-Day 7: Silver Lining

So the last couple of days have been a roller coaster with the electricty going out the water pressure being down to zero and having one car accident. Life as of today seems to have calmed down. We continued to look at cars today and have finally found the one we wanted. Well, that Aaron wanted. He got a 2004 Saturn Ion 2. Its not new, but its new to us. So at least now I won't be embarrased to be seen in his car.

YLT- Day 6: Shit Happens

Aaron had a car accident yesterday. He was driving on the freeway and the SUV in front of him stopped and he kept going. His car is basically totalled and is in safe keeping at an auto-body shop near the accident site. On ther perk side *at least the way I am choosing to look at it at this moment* Aaron will be getting a new car. We went to look at new cars today. Well not new cars... pre-loved as Aaron like to call them. Our two candidates are the Ion and the Matrix. Both are kinda cool. I love toyota but the Saturn was pretty sweet too with its extra 3rd door deal thing. So it has feeling of a coupe but with some of the functionality of a 4-door.

We still have a lot of things to go through regarding this whole car deal but hopefully it will turn out for the best. I just hate car accidents. My car has been in 4 of them and its just such a headache.

Sometimes I wonder.... Day 5

If I have too much time at work or is it just that I can't focus on what I am doing . My desk is a mess and I really have no idea of what's going on but all I know is that it has to be pretty by Monday b/c the cat is coming back while this mouse has been at play *really in space* this week. *Sob.*

Childhood Favorite - Day 4

I haven't seen these since I was a kid!

Day 3 - Electro baby found!

My bf is a dork. He lost his brand new electro baby cell phone that he blew $400 on 3 weeks ago. I wonder if he realizes that he lost it? He probably does realize that he lost it, but is freaking out that he lost it and doesn’t know where it is. Living/Working in a big city we normally don't expect the kindness of strangers. But out of some serendipity there is a human being out there that cares about someone else besides himself and decided to text message me to let me know that he found the Treo. Not surprisingly, foreigner (that doesn't know better about LA yet). Quebec Guy, you rock and we thank you!

Hopefully, now my bf will stop making Canadian jokes.

I almost missed it - Day 2

I was trying to think of something witty to say all day. Nothing came, so here I am showing that I exist

Reader Poll Monday - Day 1 YLT Blog Challenge

This is an easy day because I have something I do every week (or just about).

1. Where and when was the last wedding you attended?
Honestly, I don't remember. Most of my friends have had shot gun wedding that I am hearing about the week after the fact.

2. What's the furthest you've ever traveled for a wedding?
Family wedding in San Francisco.

3. What's your general opinion of weddings?
I like them… wish more people had them and actually stuck through with the vows. Sometimes people blow way too much money on them. There are so many more useful things the couple could be doing with that money. Its just one day (yes, I know that you will remember for the rest of your life).

4. What's your favorite wedding tradition?
The father daughter dance. I am pretty close with my dad. I am waiting for that moment. I already have the song picked out for it too. "I loved her first" - Heartland.

5. Least favorite?
They Money Dance. It's just embarrassing for so many reasons.
6. What do you usually give as a gift?
Kitchen crap. I don't have a usual gift yet. I have a usual baby shower gift. *my friends are backwards*
7. What's the best thing you ever eaten at a wedding?
I don't remember.
8. What's the most bizarre thing you've seen at a wedding?
Don't know, besides bad 80's hair when I was a kid.
9. Have you ever dated someone you met at a wedding?
Nope.
10. Would you rather have a big wedding or just elope?
I am gonna have to say elope on this one. Even though I wanna do the big father daughter dance. What I am dreaming of so far is getting married on a beach in New Zealand or Australia with only the witnesses and the officiated a la Kenny Chesney and going straight into the honeymoon.

Sad Country Song *A Hissy Fit*

Yesterday morning on my drive to work I was doing my thing sitting in traffic praying I wasn’t going to be late. I listen to the Morning Show on KZLA because compared to other morning shows it's not raunchy/trashy and besides I love country music. I've been listening for about 3 years now and have gotten to know the radio personalities pretty well. Even when I got a 30 gb Ipod I still chose to listen to the morning show over my Ipod.

I got in my car yesterday to go home from work and I turn on the radio and its "The Move". I check my radio thinking maybe I hit a button even though I know it's preset as my #1 on my radio tuner. Once it hit me I was like "WTF?!?!." I am superbly annoyed. What am I going to listen to on my drive to work? I don't want to listen to the trash on other stations. I listened to "The Move" on my way home last night to at least give it a shot. It's f'ing annoying! Even their name ads are f'ing annoying.

The other thing that sucks is that they are going to stream the old country station on the internet but my company blocked any kind of streaming radio from coming in. Grrr.

KZLA's parent company thought that they didn't have enough listenership. Hello people LA/OC is not a country hick kinda place. It's a tough market. Even if it does have a low listenership relatively, comparatively it's still higher than other parts of the country. You have now displaced a bunch of country listeners. Not all of us want to go to 95.1 and the frog people.

Here is the official word: http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/cl-et-dees18aug18,0,1985117.story?coll=cl-tv-features

I am gonna go drown my sorrows in a sad country song, on my Ipod.
*sniff*

I Spend More Time with Her Mom & Grandma

So, since I moved in the with Aaron my social life has basically gone down the hole. I am normally so tired from work and from running around with the chitlin that I just don't have the energy to deal with my friends. Most of my friends go gallivanting out in the middle of the night and the bastards don't have to work on Friday *shaking fist*. I unfortunately, am not so lucky. I feel bad that I have to miss these expeditions, but in all honesty I know if I even try to make it for part of it even that a) I will still be dragging my ass the next day and b) I feel like the crappy nerdy friend that has to go home early when the party is in full swing.

With that said my Saturdays are normally my safe haven of rest, relaxation and actually being able to see my friends. Since July though I have been stuck in school or working on projects and my already dead social life got taken out back and shot in the head one more time for good measure. All I get to go out and do now are basic necessities like shopping and manicure/pedicures.  My best friends Mom and Grandma have now been tagging along. Well not exactly tagging along b/c I do invite them and I always like having company on these adventures.  Can you blame me for wanting to use the carpool lane? They are pretty funny though. My friend has always done imitations of her mom which I found pretty hilarious. Now I see where she get it from. Her mom does imitations of her Grandma. What I don't get is the fact that they argue like old ladies even though my friends mom isn't that old. Anyway they are a hoot, they love to shop *at least Grandma does*, they have been introduced to the magic of mani/pedi Saturdays and we normally go out to a nice lunch. They are happy to be out, I am happy for company - it's a nice symbiotic relationship.

Normally Susan would accompany me to all these things but she has too since moved in with her significant other. So we are 2 ships in the night that never meet. So here’s to you Susan…. We need to hang out and not exchange information through the family, capeesh?

P.S. Did you know I am your Grandma's new grandkid?

Different Time - Same Freeway

Sometimes I wonder why I keep doing the same insane drive I do everyday. Then I remember: for my industry the money is either in downtown LA or in S.Orange County. If I wanna make crappy money then I don't have to drive so far. Anyway, these are thoughts that come into my brain every morning and every afternoon when I get on the road. I have even gone as far as going to school at night to avoid the traffic.

The reason all this is brought up today is because I encountered a real piece of work on the road today. I was merging from an on ramp to a main lane. Not wanting to be a jacka** to the truck behind me and not wanting to crawl up the bum of the car in front of me I was taking my time and leaving space in front of me and signaling to get let in. When this broad with an old explorer *with obvious body damage* tries to go around me and cut in front of the space I had left. Just b/c I leave a space in front of me so I am not crawling up the other cars bum doesn’t give you the right to take it. So she tried doing that and I sped up not to let her in. She tried playing chicken with me. Then I turned my car into her so the next time she tried to move in she would have hit her car. She finally backed off and went behind me.

Stupid 405 people. If you don't know how to drive stay off the road.

FW: Here we go again....

Since I have an upcoming wedding coming up for a very dear friend of mine I am actually preparing ahead of time to make sure I don't miss out on this event. I have already booked my hotel room asked for days off and have even gone as far as buying a dress. I don't normally blog about the chitlin Patrick because I wouldn’t want to become a "Mommy Blogger" and go on the defense about doing it and come after Sherri *Like the whole Blogher Fiasco*.

Anyway, we went to Nordstrom which I don't get to shop at to often most of my clothes consist of what ever I found in the Macy's sale shoe rack, Ross and Old Navy (who else do you know that can rock a $5 skirt and make it look like a million bucks?*. I used to be a big Nordstrom/The Broadway/Robinson-May fan when it was coming from the Banco de Mom & Dad. So I picked him up early from school because we were going into The Grove of Los Angeles . He is my carpool buddy. Traffic was horrid and we made it horribly late. I had put a hold on this dress because I didn't want to drive 40 miles and waste 3 hours without it being there.

I get there, I try on the dress it needs some alterations. The salesgirl goes to get the tailor. In the dressing room Patrick says "Mel, you look like a princess." Oh sweet boy! In the meantime Patrick is sprawled out on the floor. No big deal. He lets out a little fart. Not cool. I tell him to stop it. The tailor comes and makes measurements and says she needs to go grab something. Again Patrick is sprawled out on the floor. The sales girl comes to check on me to make sure everything is okay. And this is how it goes….

Patrick turns around and looks at her.

Salesgirl: Oh he has such beautiful eyes! He's so cute.

Patrick lets out a huge stinky fart.

Me: But he is so disgusting.

Salesgirl: But at least he is cute when he is disgusting.

Patrick giggles.

Me: Do you have any air freshener?

Yeah, that was great. Patrick got the giggles from seeing how embarrassed I was. When we left the store I asked him "Why do you far so much?" He said, " I don't know. I just do." 4-year-old logic at its best kiddies.

Now Aaron and I have to go back and get the alterations redone. No chitlin in tow.

Taking me back to my horrid childhood... Reader Poll Monday!

1. What was the worst nickname you had as a child?
Melonhead - Play on my name and being the only girl in the Karate class @ 8 years old. At least I beat up the boys. My brothers nickname was Blind Bat.

2. What is the most embarrassing thing that happened to you at school?
Hmmm…. That is a tough one with so many embarrassing things happening. I went to school maybe half a mile from the beach so there was a lot of seagulls during lunch. Everybody had to watch out for the poop. One day it landed on me. *saw it land on a couple of teachers over the years too!*

3. What was your most memorable haircut?
I was the girl with the long hair. Like the extremely long hair down to my butt. So it would have to be between the half moon bangs and the day when I was 13 rebelled against my mom and cut my hair off to my neck.

4. Which fashion trend makes you cringe when you look at old pictures?
I was little kid in the 80's, need I say more? I had banana yellow Osh Kosh corduroy pants. I had a neon green shirt that said "wild thing".

Hmmm… I don't remember anything till middle school and that was Leonardo Di Caprio

Green Day.

I did glee club in the 5th Grade there is a video of me wiping the sweat off my nose every 30 seconds b/c it was so hot under the spotlight

8. What was your favorite Halloween costume?
I dressed up as a witch a lot of years.
9. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I either wanted to be a teacher or a psychologist. I still wouldn’t mind being a teacher if I didn't have this crazy ambition of being ridiculously rich one day.

10. What was your favorite cartoon?
The Simpson's. Still is :)

I feel so dirty

I've been using this blogger blog now for a little over a year and recently have been trying to fenagle it so I can blog from my mobile phone. With blogger there is a function to be able to e-mail your posts from your phone. I've tried with my gmail, my sprint mail and even through the browser e-mail... such a pain in the ass. Anyway, I finally got MSN to work to be able to blog on blogger. Why do I feel so dirty? I just don't like the fact that I am relying on MSN to go on a google product. I love google. I even considered going on to spaces. Whats a girl to do?
