Blowing Out The Candles!

So in 3 days it's the holy day when yours truly was born. The big 2-3. I know for a lot of people it's not that big of a deal and in the scheme of things it's not that big of a deal for me either. The only thing it made me realize (of non-importance) is that: you know when you take those surveys for random things like when you buy a CD or you fill out a Cosmo survey they ask your age. I am in the last year of the 18-23 box. Does that mean I really am getting older? I don't feel older. I still feel like a lost kid with a lot to accomplish before I leave this earth.  Hell before I leave the office today or for forever (in a couple of months). I don't think I have gotten as far in life as I thought I would have. I remember when I was younger (say 16 or so) I thought I would be done with school at this point and moving on to the big corporate world. I have been in the corporate world about 5 years now and I am still not done in school. When I was about 19 I thought by 23 I would be married. The closest I have to that is a committed relationship. I guess I should be grateful that I am in a committed relationship and not committed to the nuthouse.

Expectation for the next year are slightly skewed and distorted. Since my whole "corporate monkey" life has been thrown into jeopardy I have no idea what to expect. I guess all I can hope for is my health and everyone's happiness. No matter how old I am I will always be a kid at heart.

At the end of the day....

When I started with the company I am with now it was a pretty small institution. We had less than 100 employees in our corporate office. In the 3 years that I have been here we have growing by leaps and bounds. Everyday has been filled with a new adventure of acquiring other institutions big and small. We have had growing pains like anybody else our employee base has gone from 100 to 500. From 1 corporate office to now 3. The joke about my department since we are no longer part of the corporate office that holds all the EVPs is that we are the "red headed step children."
It doesn't matter how hard you work, how many hours you spend… if anything it was probably our demise. If we are so great someone must want us right? My corporate office days are numbered. Sunday my company publicly announced that it was being bought out by a WAY bigger company. Some people didn't even have a chance to come into the office and hear the news, they heard about it on their way in to work. It has been surreal for the last couple of days. We should have seen it coming. There has been a lot of hush hush meetings, people just acting strangely and our files being "audited".
With all that said I don't know what my next step is. Aaron is suggesting I go back to school. This may be the life changing event that is going to push this decision. Funny, I thought I would leave this company before it would leave me.

Carpe diem.

*Bloggers Note: Aaron is not pushing the idea that I go back to school, but he is making it sound like a very good possiblity. I am enteraining the idea at this point b/c I know in the long run it is in the greater good.

Just call me Alvin!

I got my wisdom teeth removed on Friday and have been all drugged up ever since then. I look like a chimpmunk. This has been one of the worse weekends in a long time. I for some odd reason pick holidays to get surgeries done. Christmas eve a couple of years ago I got my tonsils out. This year wisdom teeth lets see what I do next year.

Cheap Beer & Hot Dogs!

Aaron, Patrick and I went to an Ice Dogs game last night. There was supposed to be cheap beer! There was no cheap beer! You had to get there by 7:30 to get the cheap beer otherwise it was 7.50. You can get at least a 6 pack with that kinda money! We had a pretty good time. The boys not true sports fans. I probably know more about sports than they do! GO LONG BEACH ICE DOGS!

My Original Posting....

Was gonna be about how sweet my bf was for taking me out to dinner before he had to go to work. Not so much. More or Less Later.

Welcome Anthony!

It's nice to see friends come back into town. Anthony a friend who moved to DC for work is back for about 6 months on a project. I saw him last night for the first time since he left and he looked great. He told me that he just got his bike delivered. I love his bike its soo much fun! Turns out he will still be running back between D.C. and here but it's sure nice to have him home. His home now only being 2-3 blocks away. I'm sure his mom appreciates him back home (well not in her house) too. :)

Another day, Another Hurl!

I have been sick for a couple of days. I have the flu. I should be happy that I have had a couple of days to do nothing, but it's pretty boring. I am not used to sitting in bed like this for 2 days. I can do it for 1. I want to get over it. I am over it.

The Little things that get me excited

I just got DVR installed yesterday. When I played Dodgeball on Wednesday I was on the verge of missing Project Runway even though I had to stay up till one in the morning watching. Now I won't miss American Idol when softball season starts.

Dodgeball!

I tried dodgeball for the first time Wednesday night and it was actually fun. One of the girls I work with plays with a group of her friends. Co-ed. Out in Huntington Beach. Aaron actually played pretty well. I didn't do so well. I played for about 45 minutes and then I went black. I got hit in the face with a dodgeball. It wasn't that I passed out just I got hit so hard that my vision went and I halfway fell to the floor. I am a glutton for pain so I will be playing again next week. Softball starts in a month!

Don't knock it till you try it, right?

So I have this usual nice place I go to and I actually went for something new. I got acrylics done. They actually turned out pretty well. The 2 girls who were doing my nails started talking about how furry my arms are. I know they are furry. Since I was a kid. Anyway, they talked me into waxing my arms. OH MY GOD! That was one of the most painful things I have ever had to endure. Mind you I have had piercings and full brazillian waxes. On top of the pain to add insult to injury my skin freaked out. My skin did who knows what and had bumps and itched. Final Verdict: Never doing it again.

Valentine's Day 2006 Part 1

Over the years I've begun to dread Valentine's Day. I can name a number of legitimate reasons for my anxiety of this holiday.
1. Very bad Valentines Gifts. Dead roses, cracked vases for the roses, regifted gifts and the major prize winner: a deep fryer ( I am not in the south folks and I don't live in a single wide).
2. Major Relationship Changes: Either you are in or you are out on the day of.
3. Being Single. When all your friends have significant others and your mom is the only one that buys you a gift. *Thanks MOM!*
4. Bad dinners. For any of the many reasons it could have been a bad dinner.

Waste of a Weekend

I have done absolutely nothing this weekend. It's not too out of the norm but at the same time I find it a little sad that I have done absolutely nothing with myself, including laundry. I feel blah.

Everything but the chips!

So I was online a couple of days ago and was browing blogs and I came across Resolution 2006 and it made me think about my dieting habits. So in an effort to you know actually have a healthier year I actually went food shopping! Yes, I stepped into a grocery store for something other than alcohol! Everyone says its cheaper to make your own lunch than to go out to eat everyday. Not when you have lunch down to a science of $2.46. So I went and bought food for a week and blew about 40 bucks. It was all healthy stuff and I thought I did pretty well for the day even with non-fat yogurt. Then I had my moment of my of weakness. Doritos. Small snack size bag. All gone. Back to the drawing board.

It was "after"noon right?

I am making more of an effort to hang out with my girlfriends nowadays and so 4 of us went out to brunch this morning. The service was horrible but if you got breakfast you got Champagne with your meal. The service was so horrible that we drank about 3 bottles. But it was after noon right?

So this is what it means to be a girl

It's something I do every 2 week and for the most part I enjoy it but looking at it from the outside, it is actually a pain in the butt! I get my eyebrows, nails and toes done every 2 weeks, my lip done every 4 weeks a hair cut every 6 weeks and a brazillian wax every blue moon. And every once in a while all these weeks align and I have to get this all done in one weekend. This weekend I got my eyebrows, lip and nails and toes done. I also managed to squeeze in a hair cut and a tune up and oil change. Managed to get some food in me and get my boyfriend a hair cut. I feel a little exhausted.

Off to dinner!

My Boyfriend Does Gay Porn...

and he swears he's straight! Kidding, I know he is straight. He just got a gig doing editing work for gay porn. As long as he is not in studio it's alright. He had asked me a couple of days ago if it was okay. I thought he was joking about it so I said it was fine. Today he interviewed and actually got the job. I really can't be too upset about it (actually kinda happy about it) especially because he is making a decent day rate. Alright honey, we can supersize now!

*Make more friends: you know the kind to galavant with and have a good time.
*Stay in School: This is one of those long drawn out things.
*See the headshrinker: per my doctor. Maybe he is right.

Oh Joy! Oh Joy! The Holidays!

Tis the season to blow your wad on all the people you love. I haven't celebrated the holidays with my family in 5 years. At least this year I am spending it with someone I love and not at the hospital or crying by myself b/c I have no one to spend it with.
